The most important meal of the day! I was so excited to find out this week’s photo challenge. Food excites me in general, but breakfast happens to be my favorite because I am always starving when I wake up and I love deciding whether to make a savory or sweet dish. Today – I made a sweet 400 calorie healthy breakfast!
8:04 am : Wake Up
8:45 am : Walk with coffee in hand
10:00 am : Arrive back and make this delicious first meal of the day . . .
Wondering exactly what’s in it? To start I put about 4 oz. of yogurt in a bowl. If you make this (or eat any kind of yogurt) it is SO important to read the label. Usually Fat Free means the flavor needs to be replaced which means lots of added sugar. Under 10 grams of sugar per serving would do just fine. This is the yogurt that I use & it only has about 6 grams of sugar per serving:
I then added about a tablespoon of fiber. Fiber is perfect for the morning because it keeps you nice and full until lunchtime:
Then I cut up a small banana & added it on top. Bananas are one of the fruits higher in carbs so it’s best to eat them early in the day or after a workout because it’s great fuel for the body.
To finish, I sprinkled about a tablespoon and a half of goji berries, chopped walnuts & unsweetened coconut. Goji berries and coconut both have high levels of antioxidants, vitamins & minerals. And they have the best taste & texture! Nothing better than the Double T’s. And there are not enough good things I can say about walnuts. Between the ever-satisfying taste & crunch, the protein that is energizing & filling, and the good fats that help to flush out the bad fats from the body; the list never ends with this nut.
Now that is what I call perfection.
OF COURSE I finished every last bite. And I am now full and ready to start my busy day (laying by the pool). So remember to eat breakfast every single day, studies show that on average those that eat a daily balanced breakfast weigh less than those who skip it. With so many delicious and healthy options, how can you possibly opt out? Seriously..!
I cannot wait to see everyone’s’ posts from this week’s challenge! If you have yet to join in, c’mon what are you waiting for!? Click this: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2011/11/18/weekly-photo-challenge-breakfast-2/#more-2427 and get going.

Very nice entry! I like vanilla yogurt with crunchy granola sprinkled on top, so I’d probably like this.
